Angelina Jolie to receive TIFF Tribute Award.

American actress Angelina Jolie will be honored with the "TIFF Tribute Award" for her contributions to impact media at the upcoming 49th Toronto International Film Festival. Executives from the festival stated that Jolie's multiple talents as an actress, director, producer, writer and humanitarian activist made her a respected figure who had tirelessly used her platform to address important issues. The TIFF Tribute Awards are an annual event honoring individuals who had made outstanding contributions to the film industry, and the awards function as a pointer to the awards season. The awards honorees, who are selected by the festival rather than by voting by the audience or a jury, included stars such as Amy Adams, Kate Blanchett, Laurence Fishburne, and David Cronenberg. Jolie is being recognized for her role as in impact media, while also being celebrated for her work as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and humanitarian activist. Jolie has actively worked to further social justice through her works. Her latest film, "WITHOUT BLOOD", which she had written, directed, and produced, will make its global premiere at the festival. The movie is based on a best-selling novel by the Italian author Alessandro Barrico, which revolves around the aftermath of an anonymous conflict. The film delves into global truths about war, trauma, memory and healing. Jolie previously participated in 2017, presenting her twin films "FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER", which she wrote and directed, and "The Breadwinner", which she produced. Jolie has worked on the refugee crisis and human rights for more than 20 years while also supporting local leadership in preserving the environment, as well as funding schools and health and education initiatives globally. She currently heads the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which integrates conservation, agriculture, education and economic development projects in Cambodia, among other initiatives. The TIFF Tribute Awards have been an annual event since 2014, and collect donations that go to the Every Story Fund, a charity that promotes diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging in film. Former recipients of the TIFF Tribute Awards include Coleman Domingo, Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Fraser, Jessica Chastain, Roger Deakins, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Joaquin Phoenix, Taika Waititi and Chloe Zhao.
