Mariah Carey's Mother and Sister Pass Away on the Same Day.

Mariah Carey, the American singer, has revealed that she lost her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, on the same day during last weekend. The Grammy award-winning artist confirmed in an exclusive statement to People Magazine that "my heart is breaking. I'm utterly devastated by the passing of my mother, Patricia. The magnitude of her loss is still hard to process. Unfortunately, for legal reasons, Alison was not capable of being around. She was deeply tortured and struggled with being a brilliant artist and a very damaged person. She deserves the dignity of privacy. This is incredibly painful for all of us who loved her dearly." Carey did not disclose the reason for the deaths of both Patricia and Alison. However, according to Alison's friend, she had been receiving home care services in the last three weeks of her life after suffering from an internal organ problem. Carey's relationship with her mother, who was an aspiring opera singer and vocal coach before giving birth to Carey and her siblings, was known to be complex. In her memoirs, Carey acknowledged that "like many aspects of my life, my journey with my mother was full of contradictions. It was never black-and-white; it was a complete rainbow of emotions." Similarly, her relationship with her sister Alison was also "extremely complicated." Carey wrote that "it was emotionally and physically safer for me to not have any connection with my sister Alison or with my brother Morgan."
