Egyptian actor Osama Abbas has announced his retirement from acting at the age of 55. Abbas, who recently received an award from the National Egyptian Theatre Festival, made the announcement in a video posted on his Facebook account. He thanked the organisers of the festival, saying: “I’ve played all the roles I’ve ever dreamed of and there’s no longer any desire to offer any artistic work.” Abbas said he wants to take a break and enjoy his private and family life. The actor, who is currently living in the North Coast area of Egypt, said he has no plans to return to Cairo.
