Joaquin Phoenix has unexpectedly dropped out of a new romantic drama movie, directed by Todd Haynes, just days before filming was scheduled to begin, causing the film to be postponed indefinitely. The film was set to be shot in Guadalajara, Mexico, but Phoenix's departure has caused "huge losses" for the producers, according to reports. The reason for his departure remains unclear. The film is set in the 1930s and tells the story of a man who flees to Mexico with his friend. Haynes said in a statement that Phoenix was "driven by his courage and his desire to go places that scare him, in order to find creative fulfillment".
