Honoring Mohammed Al-Turki and Richard Gere at Venice International Film Festival

The American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) has announced that Saudi filmmaker, Mohammed Al-Turki, and Hollywood star, Richard Gere, will be honored at its annual charity gala in Venice. Al-Turki will receive the amfAR Award of Courage for his various humanitarian activities, while Gere will receive the Award of Inspiration. Speaking about Gere, Kevin Robert Frost, CEO of amfAR, said, "Few people in the entertainment industry have done more to help drive the fight against AIDS than Richard Gere… His humanity and deep desire to help those living on the margins of society make him an inspiration to us all here at amfAR." The charity event, held on 1 September, will also feature a performance by actress and amfAR supporter, Kelly Rowland. The gala will be held at the Hangar Nicelli in Lido di Venice, and is supported by the Gold council, the Red Sea International Film Festival, Chopard, and Campari, and the official hotel partner, the San Clemente Palace Kempinski Hotel. It is also supported by Boroli Wines and RUMOR Rosé.
