Egypt's Economic Court has ruled that Amani El-Tunsi, the screenwriter of the film "Tawam Rouhi", starring Hassan el-Raddad, must pay EGP 500,000 ($31,600) in compensation to author Mohamed El-Sayed Rahma for stealing his original idea behind the film. El-Sayed Rahma had originally written the story under the name "Abir". The court's ruling also orders El-Tunsi to pay the legal fees and bans the screening of the movie. El-Sayed Rahma revealed during a TV interview that he travelled to many countries, and each element of the story in the novel was based on a personal experience. He added that he sought justice in court to maintain his rights. Meanwhile, El-Tunsi's lawyer revealed that he will take legal measures in accordance with the economic courts' law, stating that his client did not attend any of the court sessions, adding that the court's ruling is the first instance and the legal procedures will be taken according to the economic courts' law.
