Will Smith signs on for his first music album in 20 years.

Will Smith has signed a new recording deal with indie company SLANG, which also includes artists such as Big Sean, Mary J. Blige, Cardi B and Roddy Ricch. This comes a month after he revealed he was working on his first album in nearly 20 years. The deal was led by influential music executive Rene McLean, one of the founders of Influence Media Partners. Smith performed his new song “You Can Make It” at the BET Awards in June, which he described as a song about "faith and resilience." It was his first solo song in over five years and first major musical release since his 2005 album “Lost and Found.” The BET Awards performance was also Smith’s first public appearance since the Oscars in February, when he famously slapped talk show host Chris Rock after he made fun of Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
