Dr. Saad Al-Bazai appointed as head of $740K Golden Pen Award for most impactful literature.

The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh, has appointed Dr. Saad Albazei as President of the "Golden Pen Award for the Most Impactful Literature". Albazei is an experienced critic and translator in the English language, as well as a full-time professor of comparative literature at King Saud University. He has published numerous books, research papers, and articles in both Arabic and English, and has participated in several local, Arab, and international conferences and seminars. The Golden Pen Award focuses on the most popular novels that are most adaptable into cinematic works, divided into several tracks, including the "Grand Awards" track where the two winning novels will be turned into cinematic films, in addition to a cash prize of $100,000 for the first place, $50,000 for the second place, and $30,000 for the third place novel. The prize includes several categories, including the best thriller, comedy, mystery, fantasy, horror, historical, romance, and realistic novel, as well as a prize of $25,000 for the first place in each category, totaling $200,000 for all the categories. The award also includes a "Best screenplay based on literary work" track where the winning screenplay will be turned into cinematic film, in addition to a cash prize of $100,000 for the first place, $50,000 for the second place, and $30,000 for the third place screenplay. The competition includes several additional awards, such as a $100,000 prize for the best translated novel, a $50,000 prize for the best Arab publisher, and a $30,000 prize called the "Audience Award" voted through the dedicated electronic platform for the prize.
