Egyptian Actress Yusra Announces Retirement from Theater After "King and Shatter"

Egyptian actress Yousra announced that her play "Malik wa el-Shater" ("King and Shater"),in which she stars alongside Ahmed Ezz, may be her last theatre work, without revealing the reason for this decision. The play premiered yesterday and is scheduled to run until July 6 as part of the current season of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. Yousra confirmed during a press conference held on the sidelines of the play's first performance, stating that "the Saudi audience is among the people who love art the most, and they have had a relationship with art for centuries." The play, written and directed by Mohamed El-Mahdy, tells the story of Hassan, played by Ahmed Ezz, who falls in love and wants to get married, but is asked by Queen Sit Al-Kol to provide a dowry that will cure her cursed sister in exchange for marrying her. The play also stars actors such as Said Ragab, Shimaa Seif, Mustafa Aghrib, and others.
