The Oscar-winning actor revealed that Prince William wanted to meet him and Costner had no hesitation in accepting the invitation. The two met in a private room, and Prince William greeted Costner with the revelation that his mother, Princess Diana, was a fan of the actor. Costner and Princess Diana had also discussed collaborating on a film that was supposed to be a sequel to The Bodyguard, but the film was scrapped after Princess Diana's death. Costner shared that he received the script for the film sequel just one day before Princess Diana passed away in a car accident in Paris in 1997. Costner had previously talked about the potential collaboration with Princess Diana in a 2012 interview with Anderson Cooper.
