Egyptian journalist Lamees Al Hadidi has disclosed on the podcast "Menena We Fenena" that she had cancer. Al Hadidi said she did not want to reveal her illness to the public as she feared being perceived as seeking sympathy. She also did not tell her son until he was older. During her treatment, Al Hadidi found support from her mother, husband, media personality Amr Adib and her friends, some of whom organised parties during her chemotherapy sessions. Al Hadidi also continued to host her show while undergoing treatment.
