22 years later, Kilian Murphy returns with a new chapter in 28 Years Later.

Actor Killian Murphy is set to return to the reimagined world of "28 Days Later" in the third film of the series, "28 Months Later." The film, set to be released on June 20, 2025, will see director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland return to the franchise they first established in 2002. Murphy, who played Jim in the original film, will reprise his role, alongside returning actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Judy Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O'Connell. Sony Motion Pictures President Tom Rothman confirmed that Murphy’s return to the franchise was a surprise, while Boyle will be at his best. "28 Months Later" will follow the initial outbreak of the virus in "28 Days Later" and the spread throughout the UK, before eventually moving across Europe. Actor Stephen Rea, who has worked with Murphy in the past, praised him as "a wonderful man" and a talented actor.
