Saudi Film Commission Joins Cannes Film Festival.

The Saudi Film Commission has announced its participation in the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 14th to 25th, 2024. The commission’s involvement will include organizing a pavilion for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and hosting partners from the film industry. The aim of this participation is to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s presence in international forums, highlight the country’s cultural and cinematic richness, and promote communication and collaboration. Saudi Arabia seeks to become a global destination for the film industry. The film commission will also organize several seminars on the sidelines of the festival focusing on the latest developments in the sector, such as the experience of the film industry in emerging markets, the mental health and well-being of the film industry, and a session with the team behind the film “Nora.” The Saudi Film Commission’s participation in the Cannes Film Festival is an extension of its success in the previous year’s festival. The commission’s efforts aim to develop the local film scene, stimulate and empower Saudi filmmakers, and exchange experiences in developing a supportive environment for the film industry. This year, the Saudi film “Nora,” directed by Tawfiq Al-Zaidi and fully shot in the AlUla region of Saudi Arabia, will participate in the “Un Certain Regard” competition in the festival. The film commission also established a special pavilion for private sector companies in Saudi Arabia to expand their business internationally.
