The General Authority for Entertainment in Saudi Arabia has announced plans for a new biographical film about the life of renowned Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum. The film, titled “Al-Sitt,” will be written by Ahmed Murad and directed by Marwan Hamed. Egyptian actor Mohamed Farrag has also been announced as one of the cast members, alongside celebrities such as Ahmed Helmi, Karim Abd El-Aziz, and Amr Saad. The film is being produced through Big Time, which is an initiative established by the Saudi and Egyptian governments to support film production in the region. The Saudi General Authority for Entertainment and the Capital Market Authority are also sponsors of the project. Farrag is currently filming a new television series called “Katalog” alongside Reham Abdel Ghafour. The show is set to debut on the Netflix platform. Farrag also recently appeared in the film “Voyage, voyage, voyage,” which premiered last year and is set to be released on the Shahid streaming platform soon. Meanwhile, Umm Kulthum’s life has also been the subject of other recent film projects. Actress Mona Zaki starred in the film “404 Journey” last year, which tells the story of a woman named Ghada who sets out on a pilgrimage to Mecca with her father after a series of past mistakes. The film is directed by Hani Khalifa and written by Mohamed Ragaa. Zaki is also due to star in a forthcoming Ramadan TV series directed by Mohamed Shakir Khadeer, but no other cast members have been announced yet. The actress has been busy in recent years, starring in films such as “Diamond Dust” and “Welad Rizk II” alongside Ahmed Ezz.
