Maya Diab vs. Fairuz Family: Lawsuit and Wedding Party Controversy - What Happened?

Maya Diab, the Lebanese artist, was a guest on the “Yalla Nahki” program, presented by the Lebanese media personality Jumana Bou Eid, which airs every Sunday on LBC at 9 pm Beirut time. Maya talked about her personal and artistic life, her new album, her family, her separation, and her relationship with Ziad Rahbani and the designer Nicolas Jebran, among other topics. She also spoke openly about homosexuality, which she considers a personal freedom that should not be judged by others. Regarding Lebanese politics and the country's failures in that regard, she expressed her disappointment, saying: "Lebanon is unsuccessful in politics, God knows what will happen to us." Moreover, Maya revealed her desire to host TV shows again, as she did in the past, during the period that she described as the golden era of her artistic career, while pointing out that she is preparing to release a song with a Warner artist. Maya also spoke about her dispute with Ziad Rahbani and his mother Fairouz, adding that they filed a lawsuit against her because she sang some of Fairouz's songs during a national occasion in Lebanon. Maya explained that she paid Ziad all his financial rights for collaborating with him on six artistic works, including their participation in a duet titled "We Stopped Feeling". However, he did not publish anything from their work to the present day. Maya disclosed that the dispute arose due to her performance of Fairouz's songs and that Ziad could not judge her for that, as she paid him all his financial dues for their previous collaborations. She added that she sang the songs during a national occasion and that they were not recorded or broadcast on any platform for profit purposes.
