Red Sea Film Foundation and the Afat University have announced a partnership in Saudi Arabia that will financially support determined female filmmakers of the university's film school to complete their cinematic projects. The list of supported films include astoundingly narrative stories that discuss complex social issues in a compelling dramatic style. The partnership allows female film students unique opportunities to pursue their artistic visions, breathe life into their cinematic projects, and of course, make sure that they reach the screen. This cooperation between the Red Sea Film Foundation and the Afat University comes as part of the former's initiative to empower women in cinema, The Women in Cinema. By offering financial support to 22 different film projects of Afta film students, from the development stage to post-production, the foundation will undoubtedly increase the quality of these cinematic projects and support the talents of these young aspiring filmmakers. The films supported by the foundation address challenging human issues in our society, leaving a positive impact on the community. Princess Lulua Al-Faisal, the general supervisor of the university, and the founder of the Red Sea Film Foundation, is the one behind the initiative that celebrates and empowers female filmmakers through the Women in Cinema initiative. The Foundation is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming Saudi Arabia and the Arab world into a global film industry centre. The foundation has several services and departments, including the Red Sea Market, the Red Sea Lab, the Arabic film support, and The Red Sea Festival.
