The American indie channel A24 has seen its film Civil War dominate the US box office, becoming the company's first movie to reach the top spot and taking $70m worldwide in its opening week. The political thriller, which focuses on the US, has made $45.7m at the North America box office and approximately $20m overseas, taking global box office sales to $67.3m. It achieved the largest share of its overseas market in the UK, taking $4.8m over its opening weekend. The Netherlands took second place with $750k. Civil War, which stars Kirsten Dunst, held the top spot for two weekends.
