Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab has become the first Arab artist to receive the Global Impact Award from the international music platform Billboard. The accolade was presented at the Women in Music gala, which in previous years has honoured only Western performers. It recognises Abdel Wahab's status as the highest ranking Arab performer in Billboard's charts, and her general influence during the past two decades. The singer expressed her gratitude for the award and underlined her pioneering role in breaking through to international audiences. Abdel Wahab's latest single, "Al Dahab" (Gold),her first in three years, is to be released shortly.
