During the event, Prince William made a rare solo appearance on the red carpet, without his wife Kate Middleton, who is currently recovering from surgery. The BAFTAs recognize the best works in the film and television industry within the UK and internationally. This year's ceremony was held in a scaled-down format due to COVID-19 restrictions, with nominees and presenters attending virtually or in-person with limited audience participation.
