The General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia has announced the launch of Big Time, a fund to sponsor Saudi Arabian, Egyptian and Arab movies, with support from the Saudi Arabian Stock Exchange. Major films backed include Blue Elephant 3, working title The Photocopy, starring Karim Abdel Aziz and Nancy Agram, and Ahmed Helmi's comedy El Rashid y El Boghdady, as well as a new project by Mohamed Diab. Further projects include a film to be shot in Saudi Arabia, which will have a budget of about EGP2bn ($112m) for eight episodes. The fund aims to support distinctive films and is for-profit.
