Saudi Arabia’s General Prosecution, headed by Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah al-Mujib, has approved the creation of an intellectual property prosecution. The decision came following the launch by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of a national intellectual property strategy aimed at providing judicial services for the sector, which is a key component of the country’s Vision 2030. The new prosecutor’s office will handle cases involving violations of Saudi’s trademark and intellectual property protection laws. It will also cover issues relating to patents, industrial designs, plant varieties and integrated circuit layout designs.
