Lebanese singer Elissa has been named among Forbes' annual list of the most influential personalities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The magazine's Forbes Over 50 roundup features 50 luminaries shaping the future of science, fashion, finance and even the Catholic Church. Elissa joins 50 CEOs, humanitarians and trailblazers from across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, proving that the second half of life is often the most successful and impactful. "Khouri, known by her stage name Elissa, is one of the best-selling singers in the Middle East. The distinction has been a constant feature since 2005, when she won her first World Music Award for albums that achieved high sales; she has so far sold more than 30 million albums worldwide," Forbes wrote on its website. "Her music has not shied away from sensitive topics such as mistreatment of women and breast cancer. In 2018, Elissa included footage from her breast cancer radiation treatment in one of her music videos. A new album was planned to be released in the fall of 2023, but she delayed the release in solidarity with the Palestinian people," the website added.
