Leonardo DiCaprio among Honorees at Oscars Ceremony.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently held their annual Governors Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, honoring notable contributors to the film industry. Among the honorees were actors Angela Lansbury and Wes Studi, director David Lynch, and actress and filmmaker Lina Wertmüller, who received the Honorary Oscars. In addition, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award was presented to actress Geena Davis and the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award was presented to producer and director David Heyman. The event was attended by numerous Hollywood stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, and Florence Pugh. The Governors Awards ceremony is a separate event from the annual televised Oscars ceremony and recognizes achievements in the film industry that may not have been recognized through traditional Oscar awards. In related news, the Academy recently revealed the final nominees for ten technical categories for the 96th Oscars ceremony, which will take place in 2024. Among the films with the most nominations are Greta Gerwig's Barbie and Martin Scorcese's Killers of the Flower Moon. The final nominees for all categories will be announced in January 2024.
