An artist in Egypt has announced that he will name a scientific axis after his late father, who was a famous actor. Mohammed Mahmoud Abd El Aziz posted a picture on social media showing a sign bearing the words “The Artist Mahmoud Abd El Aziz Axis,” with the comment: "A special thank you to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi… and thanks to our beloved Egypt and everyone in charge of it for this gesture and appreciation that delighted us a lot." He added that the move showed the country’s great respect for its sons, its personalities and its artists. In recent years, there has been a trend in Egypt of naming bridges, roundabouts and other public spaces after celebrities, including actors, writers and poets.
