Mariah Carey's iconic Christmas song "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has broken a new streaming record on Spotify. The song, which was first released in 1994, gained 24 million streams during 2023, breaking its own previous record of 21 million streams in 2022. The song has been a holiday favourite for almost 30 years, with around 1.7 billion streams to date. The song also topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart for 59 consecutive weeks. However, a new version of American singer Brenda Lee's song "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" temporarily displaced Carey's hit from the top spot. Carey eventually regained the top spot, with Lee's song now in second place, followed by "Jingle Bell Rock" in third. Carey received a special holiday gift by breaking this new streaming record for her iconic song.
