The festival was first held in 2019 and hosted over 150 artists, attracting over half a million people. This year's festival is part of the larger Riyadh Season, which will also include events such as the Joy Awards and the XP Music Conference. The XP Music Conference is meant to help industry professionals in the Middle East and will feature music workshops and evening events. The Joy Awards are expected to bring celebrities from the sports and entertainment industries, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Conor McGregor, and Eminem. Riyadh Season 2023 is the fourth edition of this season, which has established the city as an entertainment hub. The season will last for several months and will include sports, arts and culture, and other entertainment events. The event will also launch a new website and ticketing platform, along with a new entertainment area called Boulevard Hol, which can accommodate over 40,000 visitors. The season-opening ceremony alone attracted many celebrities, including Muhammad Hamaqi, Nancy Ajram, and Ahmed Ezz.
