Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir has revealed the challenges he faced in composing and singing his latest song, "Hold Your Fire," in English. Al Sahir admitted that he rarely sings in English, and composing the lyrics made him feel tense. Following several recording sessions, the singer travelled to New York and received help from opera singers. Al Sahir also revealed that he sought evaluations of his English performance from his grandchildren, who gave him a 97% and 95% rating, respectively. The song "Hold Your Fire" is Al Sahir's response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The majority of the earnings from the song are to be donated to humanitarian efforts to the United Nations, including UNRWA, UNICEF, and the World Food Programme. Al Sahir delayed several of his concerts out of solidarity with Gaza during the influx of violence in the region.
