The third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, which will take place from November 30 to December 9, 2023, will feature the world premiere of the Saudi short film "The Last Winter" by director Haider Dawood. The film will be shown in the "New Saudi Cinema - Short Films" section, with the director in attendance. The documentary film, produced and directed by Haider Dawood, is a story about nostalgia, ambition, exile and contribution to culture and heritage. The film revolves around Mohsen, who after four years of his first visit to Sweden, returns to visit his friend Haider, and together they explore the last winter in Sweden, deepening their ties amid nostalgia and change. Haider Dawood is a Saudi filmmaker from the Eastern Province, who studied industrial engineering and systems, and holds a master's degree in industry management. Despite not having studied cinema, he has a passion for visual storytelling that has led him to capture and document local narratives that are grounded in the richness of Saudi culture. Dawood's cinematic voice found its first echo in the Saudi film scene with the film "The Color of Sunsets," which was featured in the 2020 Red Sea International Film Festival's experimental section. His next film, "Window to Life," featured in the festival's inaugural edition the following year as part of the New Saudi Cinema section, further cementing his position among industry participants.
