Essam Karika shares feud story with Mohamed Saad in 15 words or less

Egyptian musician and composer Essam Karika revealed in a TikTok video the backstory to his composition of the song "Yalli Nsit El Garam" for the singer Mohamed Saad in the movie "Boha". He disclosed that the song was originally intended for a female singer from Mansoura but she decided not to continue with it after Karika had already paid an advance. Mohamed Saad heard the song during a theatre rehearsal and asked for it to be included in the film. The late poet Sameer Zaki added the refrain "Yalli Nsit El Garam...Arrag’ Henah We'oleeh". While working in the studio, Karika had a dispute with Saad who wanted to alter a line in the song's rhyme. Despite Karika's personal discomfort in making the change, he did eventually agree. The song enjoyed an unusual level of success when it was performed by the choir "Roh Al-Sharq". Karika also expressed sadness about the theft of music frequently observed in the Egyptian music industry. The video has attracted significant attention, accumulating more than one million views on TikTok.
