The family of late composer Baligh Hamdi was honored at the "Baligh Hamdi Classics" concert held as part of the Riyadh Season festival in Saudi Arabia. Several singers including Angham, Nancy Ajram, Maajed Al Mughrabi, Saber Al Robaei, and Asala performed some of Hamdi's most famous songs, with Nancy Ajram stating that she had always dreamed of living during Hamdi's time. Hamdi became famous in 1957 with the song "Takhounoh" for Abdel Halim Hafez and went on to collaborate with several Egyptian and Arab music stars. His melodies are known for their simplicity and ease, and he earned several titles such as "the king of music" and "the melody of melancholy". Hamdi passed away on September 12, 1993, leaving behind a remarkable wealth of artistic diversity in his compositions.
