Tunisian Film Producer Dora Bouchoucha, President of the Jury for Documentary Features and Short Films JCC 2023.

Trailblazing film producer Dora Bouchoucha has been announced as President of the Jury for Documentary Features and Short Films for the upcoming 34th edition of JCC, scheduled to take place from October 28 to November 4, 2023.

Dora Bouchoucha is a producer and a significant figure in both the Tunisian and international film industry. She is renowned for her support of auteur cinema and her commitment to promoting and defending African cinema.

With the production company Nomadis Image, which she founded in 1994, and her Sud-Ecriture workshop, she has contributed to supporting emerging young filmmakers from North Africa and the Middle East. She has produced numerous Tunisian and international films that have been selected and awarded at prestigious festivals. Some notable films include 'Sabrya' by Abderrahmane Sissako (a medium-length film selected at the Mostra de Venise) and 'Barakat' by Jamila Sahraoui (awarded at the 20th edition of the FESPACO in Ouagadougou). She is the 'discoverer' of young Tunisian filmmakers Raja Amari ('Satin Rouge,' 'Les Secrets,' 'Tunisian Spring,' 'Foreign Body') as well as Mohamed Ben Attia. She has produced or co-produced all of their films. Mohamed Ben Attia's debut film 'Hedi’ won the Best First Feature Award and the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlinale in 2016. His subsequent films were selected by the Cannes and Venice film festivals.

In 1992, she founded the Atelier des Projets, and in 2014, she established the Atelier Takmil within the Carthage Film Festival (JCC),which she led in 2008, 2010, and 2014.

In 2010, she presided over the 'Fonds Sud,' and in 2012, she oversaw 'l’Aide Aux Cinémas du Monde' within the French National Center for Cinema (CNC),subsequently receiving the title of 'Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres'.

Dora Bouchoucha has been a member and president of the jury at numerous film festivals: In 2017, she was part of the International Jury at the Berlinale, in 2020, she joined as a Jury member for the Debut Film Award at the Venice Film Festival, and as president of the FESPACO Jury in 2023.

In 2018, she joined the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2023, she was chosen as the godmother of the 15th edition of the "Fabrique des cinémas du monde" at the Cannes Film Festival
