Sharp criticism of the documentary series Messi Meets America

The documentary series, Messi Meets America, which reveals the behind-the-scenes journey of Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi with the American club Inter Miami, has premiered on Apple TV+. The platform seemed eager to launch the six-episode series, describing it as the first work to unveil Messi's journey in the United States. However, it has received negative critics reviews. According to Jim White from The Telegraph, Messi Meets America lacks new insights or even details about the player's life outside football. He notes that David Beckham speaks more than Messi himself. White adds that the entire series is nothing more than a promotional campaign for the American football league, rather than Messi himself. Similarly, Marlow Stern from Rolling Stone magazine agrees, saying Messi has not said anything deeper than "football has become tough" over the first three episodes. It is a shame for Messi's fans who were hoping to learn more about the player's life and career. Three episodes of Messi Meets America are currently available on Apple TV+, with the subsequent three to follow later on.
