Ilham Shahin recounts hair burning incident

Egyptian actress Ilham Shahin revealed during a tribute ceremony at the 39th Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival details of a burn that happened to her during a performance, in which she was filming a scene in a house and the scene involved her being burned. According to Shahin, despite warnings to the assistants, fuel was poured on the cover that was on her head and it caught fire causing her skin and hair to burn. Shahin shaved her head because of the burn and the assistants tried to manage her skin burns with makeup to complete filming. The opening ceremony of the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival was held under the theme "Cinema Dances and Sings", in honor of Shahin. A group of Egyptian, Arab and foreign cinema stars and filmmakers attended the opening ceremony, as well as the president of the Federation of Artistic Syndicates, Omar Abdel Aziz, and the media figure Hala Sarhan. The festival's president, film critic Prince Abaza, gave a speech celebrating the 39th edition of the Festival and the half-century anniversary of the Egyptian Society for Cinema Critics and Writers. The festival also celebrated the victory of the Arab world in the October war.
