"Walid Toufic congratulates Michel Hourani on LBC's show 'Qabl el-Daw': From port worker to shining star."

In a recent interview with Lebanese television program, "Qabl al-Daw" (Before the Light),iconic Lebanese singer Walid Toufic spoke about his early life struggles and the journey that led to his success in the Arab and international music scene over the past five decades. Toufic grew up in a family of 10 - five siblings, his parents, and his grandmother, dropping out of school after the second grade to work as a laborer. He then became an electrician and founded a construction company, only leaving his business ventures after succeeding in his music career. Toufic expressed his love for cinema and how it was a source of comfort during his childhood, along with his admiration for the song "Ayun Bahiya" by Mohamed El-Azab and the Studio el Fann. However, he also spoke about the struggles that come with fame and how it can take away one's privacy. The singer stated that at this stage in his life, he fears losing his loved ones more than anything else. Finally, Toufic revealed that his unfulfilled dream was to see Lebanon free from sectarianism and division that has plagued the country for decades.
