British actor Michael Gambon has died at the age of 82 after suffering from pneumonia. He was best known for playing Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series, and the news of his passing was widely shared on social media and search engines. Gambon was a renowned and celebrated actor in the UK, having starred in a diverse range of roles across stage, television and film throughout his six-decade career. He began his professional career touring with Sir Laurence Olivier's theatre company and was beloved by younger audiences for his portrayal of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. In 1990 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and awarded the title of Sir Michael Gambon. Gambon won four BAFTA awards, two RTS awards and an Olivier Award over the course of his career.
