Hollywood Book Ends 5-month Strike.

After nearly five months, the members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) have ended their strike in Hollywood. The unanimous decision to lift the ban came from WGA leaders, although the 11,500 members of the group will later vote on whether to approve the terms of the proposed three-year deal including wage increases and protections governing the use of artificial intelligence. The strike began on May 2, and included members of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) from July 13. The strike seriously impacted the US economy, with estimates putting the cost at around $5bn. Despite the end of the writers' strike, SAG members remain on strike and have similar demands, including improved pay, working conditions and retirement benefits; they also seek to build barriers to future use of AI in TV and cinema production.
