Egyptian director Ahmed El Nahaas has passed away at the age of 73 after a long battle with illness. El Nahaas was known for his work in television, directing popular shows such as Al-Watad and Salma Ya Salama. He also directed a number of films, including The Lost Plane and Al-Sageantan. El Nahaas studied at the Higher Institute of Cinema and began his career as an assistant director to Kamal El Sheikh and Ahmed Fouad while still a student. He later worked on a number of films as both director and screenwriter. His notable awards include Best Director at the Alexandria International Film Festival. Following his death, many in the arts and media industries expressed their condolences and described El Nahaas as a great loss to Arab art.
