Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has stated that the proposed undersea project connecting India and Europe would shorten economic travel time between the two regions from three to six days. While details about the potential project remain scant, it is understood that the plan includes laying a subsea cable from Mumbai to Muscat, and then on to Doha, before joining the existing GCC network. The project has been long in the making, with talks of the project entering initial phases late last year. The undersea project would be immensely beneficial in terms of trade and economic energy, thereby strengthening India's foothold in West Asia and Europe. Although, finalising the project could take anywhere between five to ten years, the UK’s National Grid is understood to be one of the stakeholders interested in the venture.
