"Voy Voy Voy" nominated to represent Egypt in the Oscars.

The committee tasked with choosing Egypt's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2023 Oscars has selected "Voy Voy Voy" by director Omar Helal as the official entry. The film tells the story of Hassan, a security guard living in poverty with his mother, who pretends to be visually impaired to join a blind football team traveling to Europe for a championship. Along the way, he meets a young journalist who takes a special interest in him, a middle-aged coach looking for a chance, and his two friends who join him on the journey. Last year, the committee chose not to submit an Egyptian film for consideration due to the low quality of submissions but commended the emergence of young talent in this year's entries. The film will compete for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2024 International Oscars Festival.
