The Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival (AMFF) under the presidency of critic Amir Abaza is preparing for its 39th edition, which is scheduled to take place from October 3 to 8. The festival will feature feature and short films from Mediterranean countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe. The festival's new edition is expected to honor several prominent stars and filmmakers, including the French actress Caroline Cellier, French film producer Jean-Louis Livi, and Omani director Khaled al-Zadjali. The festival will also celebrate the centenary of two Egyptian greats: actor Mahmoud Morsi and actor Tawfiq al-Daqn. Morsi will be honoured with a book about his career, authored by critic Waleed Seif, and his son will receive a commemorative shield on Morsi's behalf. Al-Daqn's son, Madi al-Daqn, will also receive a shield from the Egyptian Association of Film Critics, while a book about the actor's life and career, written by film critic Tarek Mursi, will be released.
