Complete Winners List for Cairo International Experimental Theater Festival Awards.

Dr. Niven Al-Kilani, the Egyptian Minister of Culture, awarded the winners of the 30th International Cairo Experimental Theatre Festival at the Cairo Opera House. The festival’s main competition jury included the prominent director Essam El-Sayed as the chairman and the theatre director Essam El-Sayed from Egypt, along with Ahmed Kamal (Egypt),Jihad Saad (Syria),Az El-Din Bouanane (Morocco-Egypt),Giles Foreman (England),Aseemwe Deborah Kawooya (Uganda),and Raluca Radulescu (Romania) as members. The jury awarded commendation certificates to Lithuania’s “Antigone,” Iraq’s “File 12,” and Egypt’s “The Man Who Ate Paper” and the following are the winners of the festival’s awards. • The Best Lighting Award worth EGP100,000 went to Iraq’s “File 12” (Abbas Qasim). • The Best Scenario or Theatrical Idea Award worth EGP100,000 went to Congo’s “Al Naga” (Michael Fabrice). • Khalid Raafat won the Best Actor Award worth EGP100,000 for his role in the Egyptian TV series “Icarus.” • Asmaa El-Sheikh won the Best Actress Award worth EGP100,000 for her role in the Algerian TV series “Haneen.” • The Best Theatre Director Award worth EGP100,000 went to Georgia’s Gia Dimitri for the play “Attila.” • The Best Theatre Performance Award worth EGP500,000 went to Egypt’s “Lefrodous Icarus.”
