Latin music singer Marc Anthony has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The British football star, David Beckham, attended the ceremony and called Anthony “the deserved person” for receiving the honour. Anthony first rose to fame with his salsa version of Juan Gabriel’s “Hasta Que Te Conoci”, before becoming an ambassador for Latin music and winning four Grammy Awards. He attended the ceremony with his wife, current spouse and former actress Nadia Vera, and his sons. Anthony said that he relied on his friends, to whom he owes “a million hours of decisions, conversations and all those talks”, to help him become successful. He added that he wanted to meet his “family”, all the people who played a role in shaping him since he won his first battle in East Harlem. The singer went on to thank those who supported him throughout his career, saying that he could not believe that he had realised his dream of receiving the accolade in front of his eyes. Anthony’s star is the 2,762nd on the Walk of Fame. Anna Martinez, producer for the Walk of Fame, said: “We are so proud to honour Marc Anthony, a true ambassador of Latin music and one of the world’s best-selling tropical salsa artists of all time. I can’t wait to know how he does it.”
