Egyptian actress Riham Abdel Ghafour expressed after not receiving an award at the Cairo Drama Festival, .

Egyptian actress Reham Abdel Ghafour has responded to the controversy surrounding her omission from the Cairo Drama Festival honours list. In a post on her Instagram account, Abdel Ghafour said that she was grateful for the love, support and encouragement she had received and that these were more important to her than any award. The controversy began when actor Karim Fahmy criticised Abdel Ghafour’s omission from the honours list on social media, saying: “Where are Reham Abdel Ghafour's awards or honours? Has she done a season or is she Mohamed Salah?” Film critic Tarek el-Shenawy also commented on Abdel Ghafour’s absence from the honours list, saying: "Abdel Ghafour certainly deserves to be recognised for her achievements in television drama, particularly since this is the category that the festival is based on.” However, he added that other actresses, such as Mona Zaki and Menna Shalaby, who were honoured, also deserved their recognition.
