Tamer Hosny sends a message after being honored during his performance at the opening ceremony of the Cairo Drama Festival at Alamein.

Egyptian singer and actor Tamer Hosny expressed his gratitude for being honored at the Cairo Drama Festival held in El Alamein last week. Hosny received the award for Starscrapers and thanked the festival for recognizing his work. He also expressed his appreciation for the effort put into the success of the festival, emphasizing the positive impact that events of this kind have on the Egyptian entertainment scene as a whole. The Cairo Drama Festival’s second edition hosted the first Starscrapers Awards ceremony, celebrating 60 years of Egyptian drama. The festival also introduced viewer-voted awards in addition to main honors selected by the judging committee, which includes director Gamal Abdel Hamid, actors Karim Abdel Aziz and Ilham Shaheen, critic Tarek El Shennawi, and writer Abdel Rahim Kamal. The festival showcased drama productions that aired throughout the year, rather than only during Ramadan, as was done in the previous edition. The festival’s organizers allowed viewers to vote for eight categories, including best actor and actress, supporting actors, directors, and up-and-coming talent. The event was held in collaboration with the Actors Union and consulting firm Council Masters Media Services, which operates the North Square Mall project in El Alamein. The goal of the festival is to nurture creativity and develop entertainment production. It highlights the role of drama in shaping public consciousness and promoting human values. Best actor and director, among other categories, will be honored for their work during the 2023 season.
