Stars have begun arriving in Egypt's New Alamein city for the Cairo Drama Festival.

The second edition of the Cairo Drama Festival has begun in the city of Alamein in Egypt. It is expected that many stars from the Egyptian and Arab arts scene will attend the festival, including actors and members of the judging panel. The opening ceremony for the festival will coincide with the Star Scrapers Awards, which will be broadcast live on television. The festival is being held under the title "60 Years of Drama" in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the production and broadcasting of the first Egyptian drama series, "Fugitive from Time." The festival aims to honour the most important figures and artists who have contributed to the Egyptian drama scene and award prizes for the best drama productions of the year. At the previous edition of the festival, many creatives were honoured for their contributions to Egyptian drama. Notable attendees of the festival this year include renowned actors such as Yehia El-Fakharany, Ashraf Zaki, and Elham Shahin. The opening ceremony will also feature the screening of the Star Scrapers Awards. The festival aims to award prizes to the best dramas and their creators during 2023's productions. At the first edition of the festival, many actors and actresses received creative prizes, including Ilham Shahin, Samiha Ayoub, Safiya Al-Omari, Mohsen Mohy El-Din, and Nadia El-Gendy. Extraordinary awards were given to the makers and stars of the series "Al-Ekhtyar 3" and "Al-A'idoun." As part of the festival, there are also a number of special honours, including the posthumous recognition of the late producer Mamdouh Al-Leithi and the screenplay writer Mohamed Jalal Abdel-Qawi. Overall, the Cairo Drama Festival is a celebration of the contributions made by artists, producers, and writers to the Egyptian drama industry.
