She began working in the field of cinema in the late forties, where she initially appeared as a dancer in the movie The Lady of the House, but she presented her first acting roles through the movie Bread and Butter in 1949, after which she participated in many films until the mid-sixties Including: The Circus Girl, and Four Girls and an Officer. Naima Akef retired in 1964 to take care of her only son, but two years later, she died due to complications from cancer at the age of 36.
