An Egyptian composer and arranger of orchestral music. He was born in the Bulaq neighborhood of Cairo on April 14, 1916. In 1930, he joined the Fuad I Institute for Arabic Music,...Read more where he joined the Music Department to study playing the violin. He received lessons in orchestral writing from the Italian professor Cantoni who was director of the Egyptian Opera House. He was appointed as a music teacher at the Ministry of Education. He also created and led the National Ensemble for Folklore Orchestra, and was appointed as an agent for the Musicians Syndicate in 1949. In cinema, he composed music for 17 films, including: The Postman, The Name Caller, The Dawn Visitor, Zeinab, and Ambassador of Hell. He died in 1987.
