An Egyptian cinematographer who was born in Abdeen district in Cairo in 1913. He completed his studies and obtained a French certificate in Commerce. After that, his father helped...Read more him to join Studio Misr when it opened. He worked as a photographer and in shooting many documentaries, including "Cairo's Symphony" directed by Salah Abu Seif. He is known for The Black Market (1945),The Postman (1968),and A Touch of Fear (1969). He had a major role in establishing the first talking newspaper Egypt in 1959. He also established the first laboratory for photography and film development and took charge of its management. In 1972, he taught at the Higher Institute of Cinema and became the head of the photography department at the institute. He also discovered many cinematographers who started as his assistants. In 1951, he produced and directed the movie Mr. Lion (1951),starring Shadya. He died on December 23, 1973.
