He began his artistic career as an assistant director in children's programs on Egyptian television, and then worked as an assistant director with several directors, including the late Youssef Chahine. In 1999, Mandour made his directorial debut with the comedy series And How Are You?. Then he turned to the cinema through his first film What's Going on?. He also produced several films, including Eye of the Sun directed by Ibrahim El Batout.
