An Egyptian artist was fined for insulting Hani Shaker

Egyptian artist Abbas Abu Al-Hasan has been fined EGP 20,000 ($1,123) for publicly insulting and defaming former head of the musicians union Hany Shaker through Facebook. After Abu Al-Hasan criticised Shaker for gaining a Caribbean passport through investing in a tourist resort in Dominica, Shaker filed a lawsuit against the artist, not for compensation, but "to stop the exploitation of social media pages." The court supported Shaker’s claim, finding Abu Al-Hasan guilty of his charges.
